Favorite Verses: Romans 5:20

For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.  Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound.  But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.  That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 5:19-21

“…where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.”

How many Christians could claim this verse as their own?  How many Christians have claimed this verse at one time or another in their lives?  So often, we allow sin to abound in our lives.  Sometimes in our lives, we find ourselves in the position of the prodigal son, having strayed from the Father.  We might wonder if the Lord can and will forgive us.  Then we find this verse.

“…where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.”

We might come across a person who does not know the Lord Jesus.  They look at their lives of sin and they know that they are unworthy of a Saviour.  They look at their “abounding sing” and they are afraid to come to Jesus for forgiveness.

“…where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.”

Any sin we commit is a sin against a holy God.  Any sin we commit is rebellion against Him.  Sadly, sin not only happens, but it often “abounds.”  But it is important for us to remember that, “…where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.”

We should never underestimate the grace of God in our lives.  We can look at all of our vile, evil, filthy sin and we can know that God’s grace is greater than all of it.  Grace did much more abound.  Yes it did and Yes it does.
